“Don”t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.”
- John Wooden (Basketball player and coach)
In the face of a large task, sometimes it is easy for the waswaas (whispering of Shaytan) to make us think that small efforts we contribute will not make a difference, and so we don??™t exert any effort. With the Home of the Heart Campaign, nothing could be further from the truth.
Recently, Dar-us-salaam??™s funding department noticed a particular donor who has, since October 2012, made an online donation to the Home of the Heart Campaign every day in the amount of at least $5.00. Sometimes the donor gives double and occasionally as much as four times as much – but always at least $5.00. It is examples like this that show the wisdom of the above quote. At this time we are in need of the community??™s support more than ever before. None of us should let the fact that we can??™t write a huge check or give hundreds or thousands of dollars in a lump sum defeat us from giving what you can in a consistent manner. Despite the number of zeros behind the first number, every donation towards this awesome vision is sadaqah jariyah. There really can??™t be an easier way to earn a good deed a day. Hopefully, each of us will be inspired by what the donor in this story does, and help us reflect and make du??™a about what we can do on a daily basis.
